On Thursday 25th June, the Open University hosted their annual degree Design Show however this year with a bit of a difference. Given the current COVID Pandemic, the course tutors and staff felt that it wasn’t safe to invite their students and guests to a physical event. However, it wasn’t an opportunity to be missed… The staff and students all got together and decided that with a nation now used to working from home, online webinars and zoom quizzes they could still present their work that they have all worked so hard on. More than 60 people attended the OU design show online event.

Flux, our take on a central spine staircase, is one of our most popular designs. Whether that’s because it creates the illusion of a floating staircase, or because the central spine itself is such an interesting piece of architectural steel work. Every staircase we supply is designed to be installed as easily as possible. We use mechanical fixings for almost every connection and we provide you with a detailed installation guide tailored to your staircase. One of the most important parts to our manufacturing process is the Test Build. There’s so much information we can obtain from this simple assembly, more than “it fits”. The steel skeleton of the staircase is assembled before sending it off for powder coating, as this is a perfect opportunity to amend anything if required.
