■ Introduction
The staircase features oak closed risers and treads paired with a square oak handrail, creating a warm contrast against the black-brown powder-coated spindle balustrade. Integrated wall lighting highlights the structure’s clean lines, while a customer-finished carpet runner adds softness and comfort underfoot. Together, these details give the stair a sophisticated, considered presence, blending technical precision with a welcoming, tactile finish.

■ The Challenge
Although the house was generous in scale, the staircase had been allocated a tight and narrow footprint, with limited visibility and restricted space for both design development and installation. The challenge was to respond architecturally to these constraints - maximising the perceived width of the stair, maintaining a single, uninterrupted balustrade, and creating a feature staircase between walls without overcomplicating the space.
■ The Solution
A designer-led approach introduced a plan to give the stair greater presence and improve comfort within the confined footprint. A continuous box-section spindle balustrade was developed as a unifying element across all flights, manufactured in large, single panels to maintain clarity and consistency. Technically demanding to produce and install within the tall, narrow stairwell, the result is a beautiful, refined staircase that transforms a constrained space into a considered architectural feature.
