■ Introduction

Walnut stained treads on our straight stringer stair design features clamped glass balustrades, creating a light, open connection between the ground floor and the balconies above the living and kitchen areas. Clean, considered details including a square oak handrail and brushed steel glass clamps reinforce the modern, minimalist aesthetic of this bungalow conversion, allowing the materials and geometry to define the space.

■ The Challenge

The stair was located in a narrow hallway, limiting the width of the treads. The challenge was maximising the usability and comfort of the stair without making the space feel cramped. The balcony over the living area also required a refined finish that complemented the overall simplicity of the design.

■ The Solution

Tread widths were carefully proportioned to balance comfort and spatial constraints, ensuring the stair remained functional and visually light. The first-floor landing features clamped glass balustrades with brushed steel fixings, maintaining a clean, minimalist aesthetic while highlighting the balcony detail above the living area.
