Bluestone House

A staircase designed to flow through a light-filled home.

All Projects

■ Introduction

Set within a light-filled home with generous windows, the staircase weaves gracefully through a compact space. Beautifully crafted light oak treads bring warmth and contrast to the sleek anthracite steel stringers, adding depth and character to the interior. A crystal-clear glass balustrade completes the design, maximising the flow of natural light and creating a seamless, open feel that encourages movement and connection throughout the home. More than a functional element, the staircase stands as a confident statement of considered design. The top floor features a sharply angled landing, introducing architectural interest - while site visits were made all the more enjoyable by the homeowners’ friendly dog, always ready with a welcome cuddle.

■ The Challenge

Fitting a two-quarter landing into such a small, angled space required careful planning, with handrail design and structural alignment needing extra attention to maintain flow and safety.

■ The Solution

The top apron plate was custom-fabricated as a single angled piece to minimise join lines, creating a refined detail. A continuous, carefully designed handrail was installed to ensure both elegance and functionality within the compact, multi-level layout.
