■ The Challenge

What initially appeared to be five simple staircases became a complex, interconnected design, all required to align precisely. Set within a centuries-old mews house, the project was further complicated by uneven floors and walls that were neither level nor parallel.

■ The Solution

The staircase was hand-surveyed and designed as a single, coordinated system, ensuring each section connected seamlessly despite the irregular structure. Integrated tread lighting was achieved by detailing the stair slightly off the brick walls, creating a subtle shadow gap that also allowed space for concealed cabling. Although challenging to install, the result was a clean, refined solution that impressed both client and builder.
